Cleveland County Divorce Records

When a marriage ends through the legal system, certain legal documents are created that become part of the public court records. In Cleveland County, divorce cases are filed in the District Court, and the records are kept by the Clerk of the Superior Court. The divorce decree, which is the central document, is known as the Final Judgment of Divorce and confirms that a marriage has been legally dissolved. Other documents in a divorce file include the complaint for divorce, financial disclosures, child custody orders, property settlement agreements, and support arrangements.

Divorce records are considered public records, meaning most case files, including the divorce decree, can be accessed by the public. At the same time, matters related to domestic violence and other protected case classes are restricted. Certified copies of final divorce decrees can be requested directly from the Clerk of the Superior Court's Office.
